At number 1o on my list of The Top Ten Obama Conspiracy Theories to be Revealed in 2009 was this prescient item:
Hawaii is not a state!
It tuned out that only a few days would elapse before emailed me a link to just such a theory.
Now, our dipsy dentist Orly Taitz, DDS, Esq. jumps off the wagon too:
KAILUA, HAWAII (The Borowitz Report) – Leaders of the so-called Birther movement followed President Obama on his Hawaiian vacation today to demand that Hawaii prove it is actually a U.S. state.
Mr. Obama’s claim to American citizenship has rested on his birthplace being Hawaii, but the Birthers argued today that Hawaii’s claim to being part of America is far from a foregone conclusion.
Speaking to reporters in Kailua, Birther leader Orly Taitz said that Hawaii cannot be considered part of the United States “unless it can produce an authentic statehood certificate.”
Ms. Taitz said that she did a thorough title search on the islands and has concluded that rather than being a U.S. state, “the islands of Hawaii appear to be colonies of Kenya.”
“That means that everyone born in Hawaii is legally not an American but a Kenyan,” she said, “which I find ironic.”
Wait a minute. Is somebody pulling my leg?
In other Orly news, she has on her site a facsimile of her intention form to run for U.S. Senate from CA in ’12. She should talk to Carly.

The article is from his satire/humor site. I looked it up. There are some other equally funny articles there too.

“The American people do not want to see us fighting in Washington,” Mr. Obama told reporters at the White House. “They want to see us working together to improve their lives, and Allah willing, we will.”
But Mr. Obama’s willingness to back down on his claim of being a Christian does not seem to have satisfied his Republican opposition, as GOP leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) today insisted that the President must also agree that he was born in Kenya.”

I think the fact that the statement was completely believable as something Orly would say is a nice application of Poe’s law (in fact, Orly is pretty much the living embodiment of Poe’s law…).
Looks like some birthers just paid for Orly’s Hawaiian vacation.
