ObamaCrimes hacked?

It started for me when I began receiving batches of email messages from ObamaCrimes.us (Phil Berg’s web site) asking me to approve new user accounts. I went over there and found that I was a site administrator(!), and that the forum was partially offline. Now when I visit there, I get the message:

The forum area is currently off line, please try back later

This seems a little more sinister than the simple incompetence that caused Orly’s web site to go strange for a day or so.

It looks like the forum software has been deleted now, perhaps in preparation for being re-installed.

    Oh, interesting.

    I had a site (one that I’ve not told any of you about, so don’t worry about being infected–the site that I link to above, which is also on hiatus after finding out about YesToDemocracy) that I was keeping on a sort of hiatus, and then I started receiving the same sorts of messages. Shortly thereafter, I heard about a WordPress worm and I nuked the site from orbit.

    So yeah, I’m thinking worm.

    One of the problems with amateur bloggers who maintain their own software (which I think fits Berg and Orly but not Apuzzo and Donofrio) is that in order to stay free of security exploits, one has to keep up with security updates to the software. Unless they are focused on keeping the software up to date, security vulnerabilities are not plugged when found.

    Here at Obama Conspiracy Theories, I install software updates almost daily, and always keep WordPress at its latest version.
