Berg is not thinking…

Philip J. Berg

Not to be upstaged by Barack Obama’s long form birth certificate, Phil Berg, the grandaddy of the birthers, has come up with a press release, titled: What about Obama’s Indonesian Citizenship? In that release he says:

Soetoro/Obama renewed his Indonesian Passport when he traveled to Pakistan that is why he had to stop in Indonesia first. Remember, in 1981, Dunham was divorcing Soetoro in Hawaii and was not in Indonesia. Obama/Soetoro admits to traveling to Indonesia first and then onto Pakistan. Soetoro/Obama claims in his book “Dreams from my father” that he stopped in Indonesia to visit his mother. But again, his mother was not in Indonesia, she was in Hawaii with Maya, divorcing Lolo Soetoro. In addition, the State Department has stated in response to a FOIA [Freedom of Information] request that they do not have a U.S. Passport application on file for Barack H. Obama.”

So if Obama’s Indonesian passport had expired and he didn’t have a U.S. Passport what passport did Obama use to travel to Indonesia? Hmmm? Of course, there has never been any FOIA response that Obama never had a US passport application, nor any reason he couldn’t travel to Pakistan on a US passport.

Well, aside from the fact that the divorce was final in November 1980:

    >>>From January 1981 to November 1984, Dunham was the program officer for women and employment in the Ford Foundation’s Southeast Asia regional office in Jakarta.[35][41] While at the Ford Foundation, she developed a model of microfinance which is now the standard in Indonesia, a country that is a world leader in micro-credit systems.[43] Peter Geithner, father of Tim Geithner (who later became U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in her son’s administration), was head of the foundation’s Asia grant-making at that time.[44] <<<

PS, according to that article, and the primary sources cited, she had been back in Indonesia since at least 1977.

Berg is nothing more than a shande.

Berg, like other birthers, is now worried that the Paypal hits will dry up, so he is about to enter desperation mode.

Those close to him should suggest that he simply get a job like most Americans who need money would do.

And when he does, he can thank President Obama for saving & improving the economy.

    “Berg is not thinking”.

Sorta depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is, doesn’t it?

  7. Scientist says:

I always find it entertaining that the birthers consider Obama a pathological liar yet will take something he says in his book as the Gospel truth if they find it convenient.

Did Racism Get Obama’s Father Booted From US?

(Newser) – Why did Barack Obama leave the United States, and his young son, returning just once to visit the future president? The Immigration and Naturalization Service file on the elder Obama, obtained by the Arizona Independent through a FOIA request, sheds some light on the mystery. On Capital New York, Andrew Rice offers his thoughts after a close reading of the file. His conclusion: “Racism drove the president’s father from the United States,” in particular, the problem that American officials had with Obama’s “fooling around with white women.”

Numerous notes from university officials to the INS illustrate a preoccupation with Obama Sr.’s love life, with one foreign student adviser noting that he had been “warned about his playboy ways.” Ultimately Harvard tells INS the university is “going to try to cook something up to ease him out.” The solution: telling Obama his scholarship could no longer be funded, and thus making his student visa ineligible for renewal. “It’s clear that Obama Sr. marked himself as an undesirable from the very moment he married a white woman,” Rice concludes. The documents reveal “a subtle, institutionalized conspiracy that in a way seems more insidious than overt cross-burning racism, because almost surely none of its participants thought of their actions as discriminatory at all.”

I wrote this before: The smears against Lani Guinier caused her to withdraw her nomination. She was a red diaper baby, and it was directed against her mother also: her mother was a Jewish communist, who had relations with a negro.

Remember the accusations that Ann Dunham was a communist – she had relations with a negro, so of course she was a commie.

Well, I’ve just plowed through the documents and to be honest IMO, the racist charge is significantly overblown to the extent of non materiality

    Basically Obama Snr was

A run of the mill student

    With adequate academics

Who lied about his personal and marital statuses

Was part of trying to get another Kenyan female student into the US under what seems to be false pretenses

    Was a dead beat father

Impressed no one with his character

    Made no supportive friends

Failed the then as now immigration moral turpitude and full disclosure requirements.

I’m not suprised he wasn’t extended

Was there SOME degree of racism, CERTAINLY, but if he’d been “black” Irish and done the same the result would have almost certainly been the same.

    YMMV

Good point Misha. Of course, you also deserve credit for pointing this aspect out from the very beginning, ever since Berg’s birtherism antics were center stage and Orly made her debut.

For a certain segment of the ODS crowd that ends up as Birthers, Tea Partiers, etc… there definitely seems to be an undercurrent focused on fears that he’s not enough “beholden” to Israel.

I would speculate that this segment includes not only certain Jews (mostly conservative Jews and/or neo-con Jews) but also certain “Christian” fundamentalists who see Israel and central to their agenda as well…

  15. misha says:

G: ever since Berg’s birtherism antics were center stage

The Mombasa scenario started with Berg, and took on a life of its own. Berg is near me, in Norristown. The good thing about Norristown, is the IKEA.

G: “Christian” fundamentalists who see Israel and central to their agenda as well…

OT, w/ apologies to Dr C: When I was in Israel, I saw fundies egg on settlers into violent confrontations with Arabs, in the hope of sparking Armageddon. I will not be a player in their sick theatre.

RWNJ seem to cause problems in every country they inhabit. There is something inherently destructive in such a rigid and tribalistic mentality. It is truly a bane on societal development and maturity.
