How do you know I’m not there?

  2. Majority Will says:

    “Yesterday, upon the stair,
    I met a man who wasn’t there
    He wasn’t there again today
    I wish, I wish he’d go away…

When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door… (slam!)

Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
    He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away”

    So there.

  4. Dog says:

If you look behind you, you will only see two sets of footprints…
It is in this time…that I am carrying you.

    Woof!

    Dog, you messed up Footprints…

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
    when I was suffering from
    anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
    “You promised me Lord,
    that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
    there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?”

    The Lord replied,
    “The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
    is when I carried you.”

Doc claiming to be alone reminded me of something that made part of my childhood.

Now, hello there! How have you been doing
all that time we haven’t seen each other.
You know, believe me, I really was not expecting you anymore,
How funny, you see, to meet each other here
I must confess I would sometimes
Think about you when I am alone here.

Yes, it is X that is me, I haven’t changed
I am still the one who hugged you and made you cry.

    Look, you’ll be surprised,
    I still got that photo
on me that you gave me long ago

Oh yes, it is true, on your birthday,
I remember it as if it were yesterday,
I brought you home some of this heather.

Now, listen to the tube, it is not that old,
I think it was your favorite then,
and I have listened to it quite often

So who is the post-Vatellite who will first post the Youtube referred to at the end? Lupin or Squeeky?

  7. Sorry about the oversized photo (now fixed). Extra point for anyone who can identify the location of that photo. Perhaps another photo tomorrow for a hint.

  15. Daniel says:

One night I had a wondrous dream, One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of the Goddess they were, But mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared, and I asked Her, “What have we here?
These prints are large and round and neat, But much too big to be from feet.”

“My child,” She said in somber tones, “For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith, But you refused and made me wait.”

“You would not learn, you would not grow, The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up, And there I dropped you on your butt.

“Because in life, there comes a time When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand, Or leave their butt prints in the sand.”

“Antigonish” is a poem by American educator and poet Hughes Mearns. It is also known as “The Little Man Who Wasn’t There”, and was a hit song under that title.

    Re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antigonish_(poem)

I don’t think Wikipedia is entirely right on this one. The poem was only the first four lines, that plus the rest is the song. It’s funny that it was a hit for Glen Miller too.
