Albatross

Instead of the cross, the Albatross
About my neck was hung.

Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” came into my mind when I read the Salon.com story about Orly Taitz trying to push her birther agenda into a meeting at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

What at one time appeared an expedient, has turned into a curse. American conservatives have a difficult coalition to keep together because the fringe on one side, such as birther Orly Taitz and her supporters repel more moderate elements. The fringe will simply not sit quiet while the grownups do their business.

Here we see the crowd “shushing” Taitz as she repeatedly attempts to turn the topic of conversation to her issues:

I am so glad that Orly is not my problem.

No details on this yet, but it would appear that Orly just got thrown out of the Breitbart “Uninvited” session at CPAC. Yes, she got cast out of the get-together of conservative outcasts.

    EDIT: …by Pamela Gellar!!

  2. Thinker says:

Orly Taitz just got shouted down and asked to leave the anti-Islam CPAC panel…by Pam Geller and some guy from Breitbart media.

You can’t make this shit up.

Great find! Thanks for sharing it.

Her bigot stink must be wearing thin when she’s scorned by bottom of the barrel scum.

  5. justlw says:

Apparently her biggest crime in the audience’s eyes was that she was not immediately struck silent by the moderator’s invocation of St. Andrew’s name.

  6. Thinker says:

Taitz has been flying high since she got to CPAC, posting photos of herself with prominent teabaggers (who have no authority to do anything birfer-wise, but that’s a different issue) and highlighting her favorable media coverage. She has probably been feeling quite good about herself that finally people are starting to realize how patriotic, brave, smart, intrepid, and awesome she is. And then what happens? She makes a scene where she screeches about Social Security numbers and is shouted down by the very haters, bigots, and liars running the show that she so wants to be a part of.

Even as an attention whore, she’s an incompetent failure.

  7. Deborah says:

This video of poor embarrassed Orly takes any ideas of future political activism right out of my head.

  8. justlw says:

Just to fill out the story: This session was called “The Uninvited,” sponsored by Breitbart.com. As near as I can tell, it was not only not part of the official CPAC track, it wasn’t even on their list of unofficial events. In other words, the Breitbart crew is playing up their “Designated Pariahs of True Conservative Reason” self-anointment.

March 14, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) – Breitbart News Network announced today that it will host a special two-hour session of controversial speakers and topics. The session will also include active audience participation. [Got that right!]

Among the topics covered: Crony Capitalism, Global Jihad, Illegal Immigration, the ongoing global persecution of Christians, and the gutting of the American Military.

Speakers include Former Attorney General of the United States Michael Mukasey and NY Times best-selling author and Breitbart Editor Peter Schweizer.

Panelists will include Robert Spencer, Dan Goure, Nina Shea, Rosemary Jenks, Frank Gaffney, and Pamela Geller.

So even the Uninvited uninvited Orly.

  9. justlw says:

Oh, and to add to the “Birthers vs. Breitbart” meme: Former US AG Mukasey, a speaker at this event, is the guy who Linda Jordan’s attorney, former Washington chief justice Richard Sanders, heckled into a coma a few years ago.

    justlw:

Taitz interrupted the panel with birther questions, but was told she was being “inappropriate”

During a panel on Islam and national security by CPAC’s “Uninvited” anti-Islam activists, birther queen Orly Tatiz interrupted the question and answer session by repeatedly asking about President Obama’s birth certificate, and demanding that the panel explain why it wasn’t addressing the topic.

When the Q&A opened, Taitz stood up and began an impromptu speech of her own, demanding to know why the panel hadn’t tackled the issue of the president’s birth certificate, and advancing arguments common within the so-called “birther” community. Gellar didn’t directly tackle the issue of birtherism, but did snap at Taitz for her presumption.

“I think there’s enough substance on this panel, I mean how many topics can you handle?” Gellar asked. “Inappropriate, really.”

Taitz, however, wasn’t interested in what Geller had to say. She wanted to nail Breitbart executive chairman Stephen Bannon to the wall, and asked him aggressively why he and his site hadn’t touched the issue. Bannon responded citing the late Andrew Breitbart’s own feelings on the issue, before Taitz interrupted him.

“You don’t talk for someone who is dead!” Taitz demanded.

“We are not a birther site,” Bannon said.

“That shows that you have no integrity,” Taitz shrieked, before the audience booed her down.

At this rate, Orly’s next act will be playing the stooge in a carnival dunking booth.

  12. Paul Pieniezny says:

justlw: So even the Uninvited uninvited Orly.

We’re back in 1863, in Paris. The organizers of Le salon des refusés have told Madame Squire that her pancakes are not welcome. No luncheon on the grass for Orly.

Manet also painted “The Bar at the Folies-Bergère” – perhaps that was the bar that Orly passed.

  13. Woodrowfan says:

Jeese, she’s too nuts even for open bigots like Pam Geller??

  14. ObiWanCannoli says:

Even the extreme elements within the conservative movement detest Orly and her antiques.

She has been nothing but a blight on their houses, so to speak.

    Bob:
At this rate, Orly’s next act will be playing the stooge in a carnival dunking booth.

    Oh if only.

One potential drawback, though: after dunking Orly in it the dunk-tank would become a hazmat zone.

  18. GLaB says:

Too bad nobody shushed Sarah Palin. Birtherism isn’t going away any time soon.

  19. Kris says:

Even though Orly’s prime objective is to always receive attention, good or bad, it must have stung to be humiliated by this crowd. It’ll be interesting to see how she twists the facts to convince her minions that she was, of course, doing the honorable thing and that everyone else was uninformed/wrong/without integrity, etc. She might even go into one of her famous rants about corruption.

The one thing we can count on is that Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ will never admit to having been inappropriate in trying to highjack this panel discussion. She must have been furious that she wasn’t invited to participate and must be absolutely livid now. The embarrassed little smile on her face as she left was very telling.

  20. Birther Weary says:

If only World Nut Daily had organized the conference, then Orly would have been kicked out for competing with the house nuts, Dr. Corsi and the Pornstache.

  21. Andrew Morris says:

Her explanation for walking out…is that she had to get to the airport. But clearly she is becoming more and more unhinged. Just read her latest nonsense, which includes claims that Obama is a jihadist, and that the Breitbart and several other deaths were really murder.

According to the NYT, online exams are now being “proctored” electronically. Pity they didn’t do that when Orly did her law degree. Although they now also check writing patterns, so perhaps a retroactive fix is possible. Let’s hope that Judge England shuts her down next month.

  22. richCares says:

Couldn’t happen to a nastier lady. I love me some Orly put downs.

  23. Bob says:

She paid $1,000 for a VIP CPAC ticket.

Add it to the bill …. the sanctions, the quixoic political campaigns, those never-ending FedEx bills … 😛

  26. Kiwiwriter says:

Never thought I’d be applauding Pam Geller.

However, I don’t think she’ll ever stop hounding Obama. Even after he leaves office.

  27. Lupin says:

Doesn’t Pam Geller realize that to the Nazi white supremacist right-wing folks she supports, she is just a potential bar of soap?

I know about “strange bedfellows”, but still….

  28. The Magic M says:

Andrew Morris: Her explanation for walking out…is that she had to get to the airport.

Haha, right. That means if the panel had allowed her to speak and present her “evidence”, she’d have said “sorry, I can’t, got a plane to catch”? But of course her flying monkeys will not doubt the Enlightened One. She’s running her own little cult.

  29. Bob says:

Orly claims it was Gellar who is responsible for shutting her down and on WND Gellar says that the title of her remarks was “The War on Free Speech.”

  30. sfjeff says:

In the realm of nutty conspiracy theorists, Orly is seen as a nutty conspiracy theorist, a threat that might dilute their own specific brand of nuttiness……

Too nutty for the nuts….got to love it.

Majority Will: Her bigot stink must be wearing thin when she’s scorned by bottom of the barrel scum

There’s a poetic cadence to that sentence that reminded me of Coleridge’s poem. How ’bout this verse? 🙂

Her bigot stink, now wearing thin
    Scorned by the barrel scum
All fixed on her their stony eyes
Could she really be this dumb?
