At some point the blog will switch to the new host and you will see “Obama Conspiracy Theories 2.0” in the mast head. This will be a temporary indicator that you are on the new host. I hope this will take under one hour.
Windows keeps old copies of IP addresses cached. That means that even after the switch, you may still get the old site. To remedy that problem, you can reboot your computer, or if you know how to get to a command line, run the command “ipconfig /flushdns”.
I will be posting updates on Twitter (as DrConspiracy).
The process will probably involve a number of problems and I thank you for your understanding and patience.
Be sure to use lots of bubble wrap. Data can get scratched up easily. Just ask Justia.com.

I don’t know about you guys, but the site is up and down for me. This is not a hosting problem, but a DNS problem at my old host.
I seems faster so far.

BTW: There was some joking at The Fogbow on how there was some errors in converting the text.
I see the same type of errors in transferred text.

There are problems with non-Latin alphabetic characters during the move. I don’t know why it failed — I tried to keep everything the same. I manually fixed open and close quotes, apostrophes, dashes, and ellipses; however, the Cyrillic is hosed for good.
It seems to me that the blog is running faster at the new host. That wasn’t the purpose of the move, but it’s nice. However the Load Averages (a measure of many processes are actively trying to use the system) are way up (8.27 6.25 5.44) compared with below one before. Maybe the difference is tied to the dynamic resource scaling.
At least your move went smoother than Sharon Rondeau’s move at the P&E. That should not be a shock to anyone however.
At least it isn’t missing its periods.
I have enabled compression both for cached pages and at the web server. This should speed up page load times.
The only problem I see is that I am no longer receiving e-mail notifications about new posts.
Not surprising. I’ll try re-installing the plug-in.
Well that was an unmitigated disaster. Server only compression from now on.
