According to Jerome Corsi writing in WorldNetDaily:
“I have no intention of resigning,” said Arpaio, who is running for his sixth term as sheriff of Maricopa County. “They forget I have a four-decades long career in federal law enforcement that includes having been a special agent for the FBI and having worked for the Drug Enforcement Agency in the United States, as well as in Argentina, Turkey and Mexico.”
Arpaio was never a “special agent for the FBI” although he was a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics. So was this Jerome Corsi’s mistake, substituting FBI or FBN, or Sheriff Joe turning fantasy into fact. Arpaio wrote in his 2008 book Joe’s Law (p 132):
Since I was a boy, I had longed to join the FBI and be a real G-man.

Once again Arpaio plays the birthers, the media – everyone, in fact – like a cheap violin.
I fear you are too kind in calling it a mistake.
If it actually came from Arpaio (doubtful in my opinion) it tells us too much about the man’s current state of mind.
If Corsi made it up then it tells us that he (and WND) will stop at nothing to churn this “story” to further his (and their) own ends.
And so what, Joe? Your career is not exculpatory.
There have been Priests who spent a decade in Seminary, devoted their whole lives to the Church, served their flocks with dedication and compassion, and turned out to be pedophiles.
They don’t get a pass. Why should you?
He, Corsi or Apario, could have easily said four decades with the DEA since his the prior agency was merged into the DEA. That would have simply been a matter of semantics. I wonder why it needed expanding. Was being a FBN DEA agent a lesser role?
Given the time frame it’s hard to tell which agency Arpaio worked for. The DEA wasn’t established until the mid-70’s or so and before that it was the BNDD (Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs) and before that, as I reall there were several small agencies.
Bottom line though is that he never worked for the FBI.
True, however, my point was that, since the role was probably essentially the same, just different agency names, using just DEA would be fine, to me. It might be preferable if space were an issue, I suppose. In either case, as you mention, the DEA and all of its predecessors are not the FBI, nor have the ever been the FBI.
Come to think of it, it would be probably equivalent to Eliot Ness.
The point is that Arpaio was never an agent for the FBI which is what he (or someone) claims in the WND quote.
Ness worked for the Bureau of Prohibition.

These tactics very closely match those claimed by the producer of “We Will Not Be Silenced” and at least one other Hillary supporter – who say that Bill and Hillary had planned to come out with the story of Obama’s eligibility but changed their minds after the good friend who was going to present a petition at the Dem Convention was killed shortly after agreeing to do so, and then the alternate presenter died suddenly of an anyeurism within a couple days of agreeing to do so.

I’ve seen a number of conflicting accounts, and I don’t care to make presumptions from such tenuous bases. I still haven’t found an explicit statement of what year Arpaio retired from the DEA.

You might want to check the archives of the Arizona Republic. They’ve done a number of profiles of Arpaio over the years. I have a recollection that he joined the Bureau of Narcotics in about 1958 and retired in 1982 (25 years) and that’s when he and his wife moved to Phoenix. They had (and may still have) a travel agency he got interested in the sheriff’s office in the late 90’s, finally running and winning in 92.

I’ve been seeing that 25 years stretched into 32 years of federal law enforcement experience, which has somehow magically turned into 4 decades now. But nobody ever said Joe was good with numbers.

One of the interesting things about this film is that it was created by Joel Gilbert. I know Gilbert from his interest in the music of Bob Dylan. Gilbert wrote a book on Dylan’s early acoustic style, he leads a Bob Dylan tribute band, and has made several documentaries about Dylan. What I didn’t know is that Gilbert’s production company, Highway 61 Entertainment, also does documentaries about the threat of Islam. My guess is that Gilbert, like Orly Taitz, hates Obama because he believes Obama
is a danger to Israel.

Good ole Corsi says it’s a compelling case, not proof. Ever the weasel. Another low is the photo lineup and insistence that there is a strike physical resemblance between Obama and Davis …. curiously, they don’t include a photo of his Mom … the only one Obama resembles.
