Anonymous web site offers $10,000 for Obama transcripts

According to the Daily Caller web site, blogger Brooks Bayne is behind an anonymous web site offering $10,000 for an authentic copy of Barack Obama’s course transcripts from Occidental College.

The offer is problematic for two reasons. First, if such a document were produced showing normal academic activity for a student named Barack Obama, birthers would never accept it as authentic. The other problem is that they don’t actually have the $10,000. Bayne declined to reveal the “recognizable” names of others behind the site.

Bayne said his organization’s members plan to pool their money to raise the cash prize, and added that the amount could grow if others step forward to contribute.

I’m speculating that Brooks Bayne is the fellow behind the collection of cartoons in bad taste here.

I guess this one doesn’t count:

There is also a third problem, I’d think. Wouldn’t it be a criminal act to release the transcripts without the President’s explicit consent? Surely releasing the transcripts without such authorization violates some privacy right.

I doubt the criminal that would do so could obtain a certified transcript, either.

  2. richCares says:

It appears they want the transcripts to show Obama is not as smart as some cliam. Seeing the actual transcipts would not be to their liking. So I am sure they do not want to see the transcrips of mostly “A”‘s.

  3. RuhRoh says:

I suppose some of them also believe they’ll find class titles they find suspicious, like “How To Usurp The American Presidency And Convert the US to Communism”.

  4. KDLarsen says:

The usual conspiracy “Produce evidence X and we’ll pay you $Y”, where they inevitably end up declaring the evidence fake on some arbitrary reason in order to avoid coughing up the dough.

Which reminds me, did Donald “Hairlander” Trump ever release those tax records of his? Y’know, the ones he promised he would release if President Obama released his LFBC?

  5. It would also be in violation of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974.

  6. Daniel says:

Am I missing something? Is the president required to have a college education? How do they think this is going to help them?

At $10,000 it isn’t worth it. Whoever did it would easily end up spending that much on attorney’s fees to defend against criminal and/or civil prosecution. Why don’t these clowns try to raise some real money? Heck, for $1,000,000 Obama might release them himself.

Besides, what do these dimwits expect to find on a transcript? It’s likely none of them have graduated college, or they would know that country of citizenship or source of funds doesn’t appear on transcripts, just courses, grade and semester taken. So what would there be? That he once took a course on History of Marxism or the like? OK, so what. Most people in Poli Sci or related areas have. And they should know the history of Marxism and studying that no more makes one a marxist than studying the history of Germany from 1918-1939 makes one a N@zi. That he was a C student? That didn’t stop GWB from serving 2 terms. It’s another Quixotic quest, like all birther quests.

    Lisa: No you’re not.
Jimmy: Oh yeah? If anyone else in this room is Deep Throat, come forward.
    *silence for 5 seconds*
Jimmy: There you go. I’m Deep Throat.
Lisa: Sir, that doesn’t prove anything. The real Deep Throat might not even be in this room?
Jimmy: Sure he is. It’s me. Next question!

Yeah yeah yeah. I’ll spare the rest of you from listening to that drivel. Gary Wilmott is saying that he believes the college records will show that Obama was a foreign student. In other words, Birthers assume there is dirt there, so that’s why they want the college records and why they feel so entitled to them.

John, my question to you is why didn’t you do what I just did and explain Gary’s take on the college records issue? It frustrates me so much when someone answers a question posed on the Internet by thrusting a big audio or video file and saying “watch this for an answer.” I once asked how there could be a sequel to the movie Highlander when it is clearly and thoroughly established in the first movie that all the Highlanders were dead except one (hence the famous tagline “There can be only one.” One guy responded with a 30 minute video review of the movie. It was only after I told him to just give me the damn answer that someone else piped in and explained that the sequel had something to do with space aliens sending additional Highlanders to Earth.

Even that’s not particularly likely, given that Obama spent his first 2 years of college at Occidental, and would more likely have been taking introductory survey courses & completing the core or distribution requirements, like foreign languages, math & science, etc.

We do know that Obama took two political science classes at Occidental from Roger Boesche:

As a freshman in 1979, Obama enrolled in the young professor’s introductory course on American political thought. Two years later, Obama took European political thought, covering 19th century philosopher Nietzsche to the present.

    http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jan/29/nation/la-na-obama-professor-20110129

(Note that the above article is obviously mistaken as to the timing of the 2nd course – “two years later” Obama was a junior at Columbia — they probably meant to say, “in his second year”)

Obama would have needed a strong GPA at Occidental to be accepted at Columbia. Despite what birthers think, “affirmative action” would not be much of a factor for transfer admissions, because there are no special support services available for transfers. A school like Columbia isn’t going to want to bring in transfer students who can’t keep up – they just don’t have time to deal with those issues for students entering in their junior year. That doesn’t mean that he had all A’s — Columbia wasn’t all that selective back in the early 80’s, because it was struggling to win student as the last remaining male-only Ivy — so it’s possible that they might have taken a student with a B+ average — but you aren’t going to see C’s & D’s on the transcript. (Note: Columbia went co-ed in the fall of 1983; Obama had graduated the previous spring — see http://www.columbia.edu/cu/news/record/coeducation.html )

  30. It’s also worth noting that Brooks Bayne is an anti-Semetic POS, as anyone who has seen his Twitter feed will attest.

Transcripts don’t show whether someone was a foreign student, only courses taken and degrees granted.

Anyway, foreign students are, by definition, those who are in the US on an F student visa. Non-ccitizens who reside in the US (whether as legal permanent residents or illegals) are not given F visas and are considered by colleges to be US students. We already have seen documents regarding Obama Sr., that shows the INS was aware that Obama Jr was born in Hawaii and was a US citiizen. US citizens are NOT foreign students.

Fail,, fail, fail…john and Mr Wilmott…

True, there probably was a sign, but you’ve proved at this point absolutely nothing. “Learn the truth” below a picture could mean anything since there has been many false claims regarding the extermination camps.
