I don’t think I have ever mentioned Linda Joy Adams in an article before1. She is a prolific blogger who has a unique take on Barack Obama’s birth place. She believes that Obama was born in Topeka, Kansas.
I was in Topeka, Kansas, about 20 years ago, installing some software on and IBM System/38 that served the County (Sedgwick County, if memory serves me right). About all I remember from that trip was discovering a peculiarity about IBM 3277 terminals connected to a remote controller differing from ones connected to a local controller.
Memories are funny things, and I remember a whole lot more about Tulsa than I do Topeka. But I digress. Linda Joy Adams writes in her most recent blog article that:

Personally I don’t think he ever had anything but the notice of birth generated from a Phone call either pretending to be the hospital, or since there is an eye witness who saw Stanley Ann on a list of births, someone may have added the name to the births to be called in both to the county for the Notice of birth and to the newspapers. No certified copies were issued until the form itself arrived from the Hospital. I am speculating based on years of experience with these kinds of documents and having conducted criminal investigations for social security and medicaire (sic) in the earlier years of my career with SSA when SSN’s were not filed for soon after birth as they are now, etc.
I’m not sure I can follow the logic of that. I don’t know what the multiple versions are, but it is certainly true that no certified copy of Obama’s birth certificate would have been issued before the State of Hawaii received the birth certificate from the hospital on August 8, 1961. And it is also true that in 1961 children didn’t usually get social-security numbers soon after birth. But how this makes Obama’s birth certificate, signed by a physician at Kapi’olani hospital in Honolulu, go away escapes me. Her next remark:

appears totally made up. At least I’ve never seen any such thing, and Adams doesn’t provide any sources. But birthers making stuff up, or being confused about what they know, is par for the course.
BTW, “Topeka, Kansas” is an anagram of “sneak oak past” and “takes oak nap.” Ponder that!

I am an eyewitness to the even s of the birth of President Obama at Forbes Air Force Base Hospital at Topeka Ks where my mother took my second cousin Stanley Ann to have him. and was present at the birth. Her Dad my first cousin Daniel Wayne Pope took the wallet of the real Stanley Dunham to go to WWII at age 14 and did.
The county is Shawnee and not Sedgwick as that is Wichita.
I went to work for SSA out of college in 1968 and in those years we had paper manuals for laws regulations and all the procedures. Part of that was alerts on suspected documents, investigations around the country,etc. and we had extensive training.. When I’m only going from memory , then I say so, and try to be as accurate as possible. Throughout the USA in those years things were rather lax on security of records. It wasn’t even a crime to lie on your application for an ssn . And many did make themselves older for work as teenagers thought we would tell their employer ( we couldn’t) And if one was under 18 and said they were born here,etc. no documents were needed to file for an ssn. Ann was born in 1945, not 1942, its why my mother had to get the gdnshp papers signed over from Fred Phelps at Westboro Baptist church to get her registered at Topeka HS in 4/61 after the year was almost over. ( my Daily recaps since 7/16/12)
The real birth records are in Topeka K.s And it was also in the paper under Obama as Ann married Obama Sr arranged by her Dad as the real dad was dead. ( all on my sites) If you go back and read my Daily Recaps 9/14/12 affidavit filed with the sec of state of Kansas.
.There is currently on going alterations so 60 &61 Topeka HS yearbooks for to hide the fact his Dad was ;written out of the history trying to substitute another with similar first name but older student with same last name and similar. Th s was a racial attack on both his parents and three dead in the kansas river and no justice to date. One can’t rely on these online records at all. And may explain how a picture ( not her) of Ann got in a Wichita HS one online when she attended Topeka HS in 4/61 – then transferred to Mercer Island after the Pres was born.
A notice of birth was often issued from a phone call. and one could say they were the hospital or soeone could hold by and dd the name to the clipboard info and this is the case I recall happening that was written up in our manuals. A notice of birth which is what he usually submitted, clearly says its not the valid certified one and every sec of state dealing with elections should know this. Also the newspapers woudl be notified directly form the hospital also in many cse. It woudl take about thirty days, to get the certified records after i s received ad processed y the county and a copy sent off to the state registrar. That is just the way things were done. My personal belief is that his maternal grandmother did this in Hawaii and someone in his campaign tried to create a certified copy. As he was born in Topeka and nont Hawaii and not Kenya either. I have emailed the campaign end the white house and no one wanted to now. I wasn’t on the web in 2008 and had no idea al this was going on.as the main media never carried it.I am not a birther. Really, this is the first article about Adams? Her writings have been mentioned now and again, I always got the impression they were just too silly, too silly even for birfers.

His future presidential library will be like a black hole of non-information when it comes to telling the story of his early years.

Linda, have you ever considered getting someone to make a video of your stories and put them on YouTube? I would like to be able to put a face to the person who has shared these mesmerizing accounts of President Obama’s hidden life. Also, if you related your accounts orally, then you wouldn’t have to worry about misspellings, typos, grammatical errors and the like, which tend to detract from credibility of your personal history.
I would like these videos to be just you, maybe talking to the camera in a comfortable chair, or, like the philosopher Aristotle was want to do, walking in a grove of trees talking to a small group of adherents. I was even picturing you at a lectern addressing a room of listeners. If it’s not possible to get a roomful of people, you could keep the lights low and just borrow mannequins from a dress shop and have the camera in the back of the room shooting over the heads of the “audience.” Another possibility would be to have you have a conversation with someone who was standing in as President Obama. He wouldn’t have to be black; you could just ask him to put on dark makeup or get a dark tan. It would be like bringing history to life. Another idea would be to have you dress up as Mrs. Santa Claus and tell the real story of Barack Obama’s birth to children dressed up as elves. Of course, getting midgets would be better, but that’s costly.

In an absolute sense, any story is either credible, or not credible, right? Not much point to having 50% credibility …. unless it was couch in terms of a probability of credibility, but that would imply an incomplete analysis, the presence of unresolved issues. Neither the tale of Berg nor Adams are at all credible. Quite incredible. Heh.
But in terms of silly, that’s another matter, and comepletely subjective. Silly, sillier, silliest. I would say Adams is sillier than Berg. Why? Silly, as I am using it here, is the opposite of practical.

If I remember correctly, Berg is a Kenyan-birth birfer. His story uses the people, places, times, and events from the Obama narrative, but rearranges them, reinterprets to fit the case he wants to present, and makes ones ludicrous assertion, the round-the-world birth tour. It’s pretty silly, and concocted (desperately?) as a fanciful means to a ludicrous end.
Adams on the other hand is just spinning complete fiction. Dunham’s family has Kansas roots, Adams is from Kansas, she’s off to the races. Spinning ongoing, everchanging, extemporaneous yarns. Less reality that Berg. Less practicality than Berg. Darn near all silly.
As silly as Berg is, he got a case to SCOTUS. He—at least in form, if not efficacy—made progress toward his stated goal.

The parents had left Kansas years earlier for Washington, all well documented, before reaching their final home in Hawaii. Despite the unfounded claims of idjit birthers, Ann is well remembered from high school in Washington and at UH Manoa in Hawaii. There are a ton of photos of baby and child Barry, plus the memories of his classmates.

I wasted some time searching newspaper archives for 1989 to see if there were any stores about any unusual events at the Social Security office in Jersey City that year. Nada. No building evacuation. No story about unexplained deaths or people being turned away from area hospitals. Of course, in true conspiratorial fashion Linda will tell you that it was all covered up so of course there are no records!
But what she hasn’t told us is that the Social Security Administration wasn’t the only tenant at 2 Journal Square Plaza in Jersey City. It’s a large office building with multiple tenants. Linda would have us believe that toxic fumes filled the building, sickening and perhaps killing many people, yet absolutely no one took any notice.
Linda obviously has delusions, and she needs mental health treatment. The attention she receives from birthers makes them enablers.
If you don’t like being ridiculed, then stop being ridiculous.

I don’t know about you, but I’m neither inclined nor disinclined to believe her horribly type story.
I think it’s good to be objective before the truth or falsity of anything. So, I spent more time than it was worth trying to figure out Linda’s story. I read her blog and her Facebook page.
There is no frigging way she is related to Obama, AND Sarah Palin, and the Pope. Not only that, she claims that Hilary Clinton was friends with Obama’s mother, and here on this site she has mentioned how the Westboro Baptist Church ties it all together. Add in her story about Osama bin Laden standing ten feet from her desk when she supposedly worked at social security. O rly?
Like you I spent some time looking at her stuff and the more I saw the clearer it became that she makes Kevin Bacon look like an orphan stranded on Pluto since birth.
Is she serious? Lord, I hope not.
It’s kind of funny until you start thinking about her out in the real world trying to function with and among sane people and then it gets scary.
I just responded to Deborah’s post about Linda Joy Adams. I was going to add a thought to my comment about her (LJA’s) craziness being scary because she’s frustrated that no one takes her seriously and we – society – need to be more concerned about these sorts of folks.

How do you account for the incredible resemblance between President Obama and his half-brother, Mark Obama Ndesandjo? They share a common father, Barack Obama, Sr. The resemblance is apparent to anyone who views his picture although many of the birthers who try to claim FMD, or Malcolm X, etc. will never admit to it. They don’t want to believe anything that is true unless it serves as defamatory evidence against President Obama. If you google his name, you’ll see dozens of pics of him that show the likeness between the two men.

Although I’ve seen that photo dozens of times prior to this, I just looked at it as an example of a little boy enjoying time with his grandfather on the beach. Their facial similarities are remarkable. When we’re not looking for something specific we don’t always see what is right in front of us. I recently found a pic of my father in his mid-20’s and was never quite sure who my youngest son resembled until I saw it, change the hair color from black to blonde and they’re identical, facial structure, eyes, shape of head, etc. Birthers prefer to pretend there is something nefarious in every thing surrounding President Obama.
