Because it IS the OPEN thread, I’ll post the free book of the day from Forgotten Books:
http://www.forgottenbooks.org/books/The_Cooks_and_Confectioners_Dictionary_1000163930
which is, by the way, a great site for finding old reference texts. For example, somebody brought up the Attorney General’s 1873 comment on jurisdiction that’s on the wikipedia page on birthright citizenship. I wanted to read it in context, and it’s right there at Forgotten Books, in the Official Opinions of the Attorneys General, Vol. 14.
The link for that:

ok guys, be VERY careful when browsing BR today.
i just put their page up, and my antivirus lit up like a pinball machine saying there was some malware trying to gain access
might just be something from where i am, but thought you should be aware
roadie, I guess your antivirus reacts to Birdboy’s hate …..
Doc, have you checked your equipment already ?
https://recode.net/2014/05/18/in-letter-to-obama-cisco-ceo-complains-about-nsa-allegations/
Foggy sure has Falcon foaming at the mouth today! More-so than usual! 🙂
Yeah, birdboy is squawking like the chicken hawk he is. And look who showed up to share this hilarious delusion: Sam Sewell
“It would be a mistake to underestimate what the Fogbowers are capable of. Already they’ve installed a foreign operative as chief of state and kept him there for six years. They’ve got Orly and, I think, a couple of others undermining our efforts to get to the truth. They know he’s ineligible and they throw it right in our faces. I was optimistic that we could gain some momentum by OAS but it doesn’t seem that many attended. Have the Fogbowers totally taken over?”
Can he possible believe this baloney?
Hi Falcon! 😈
Another failure, another day of Falcon blaming us for their failure. Sorry birfers, you’re dying. With the complete destruction of OAS, court failures left and right, and the President comfortably still occupying the WH, they have nothing. Their only hope left, their only possibility of even getting any attention from anyone but their echo chamber and our laughing at them…is with Zullo. But, Zullo’s gone underground…been scared off by the anti-birthers. That’s right Falcon, we’ve scared Zullo away and now you’ll never see any of his non-existent evidence. He’s gone. He’s given up. He’s got nothing.
So Falcon, as you’re typing out your insults, your bloviating, your homosexual fantasies…always remember, we are laughing at you. Zullo’s abandoned you and you’ve got nothing left.
Drat! They figured out Taitz is One Of Us. It’s just a matter of time before they unmask the others.
So lemme get this right, Sam “For the last time, I am not Herman Munster!” Sewell honestly believes that Fogbow is some government organization/Shadowy group of kingmakers?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFX8-ctkQqY
Don’t get me wrong “Another Ones Bites the Dust” is a classic, but the gamer in me demanded this.
I think someone at BR is giving Falcon a run for his money, in the “I can drink more Haterade than you!” department. “Barry Soetoro, ESQ”. Its like “Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies” aka “Godwin’s Law” willed itself into the flesh.
Wait …. “Give me liberty or the Open Thread”???
I can’t imagine settling for an open thread. I’d have to insist on the liberty.
Also taking a pause to be thankful for not suffering delusions of oppression and imprisonment as do our favorite subjects. Those poor, self-loathing bastids.
The video’s title brings back memories of a game for the original TRS-80 called “Robot Attack.” The guys came up with a way for it to talk — big juju for 1981.
You plugged a speaker into the cassette jack, which of course was really only intended to be your super-reliable data port, and the game would play scratchy sound effects through it, including — ta-da! — a digitized voice brightly exclaiming, “You’re dead!”
You kids with your xbones and your dobblies and your submawoofers…
I think this is kinda getting the point across too!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9D2mvoMKLE
My understanding is that Sam Sewell at BR is not the real one.
I had me a Trash-80 back in the day. Talk about having to make your own fun!
The day we got the Expansion Interface, quadrupling the RAM from 4K to 16K instantly, was the best day of my life. It’s been downhill ever since.
16k made all the difference in the world! That Extended Color Basic manual the thing came with was practically useless without it.
In the immortal words of Jim Malone: who would claim to be that, who was not?
Heh, I soldered in my own chips and took it to 32K. You could only address 16K and had to switch back and forth between banks of 16K. I think you had to do that in machine code, but I had the 6809 Assembler cartridge.
Mainly that was for running OS/9. I had two users logged in at the same time–one at the keyboard, and one attached via the serial “port.”
I didn’t even know you could do that kinda thing with a CoCo. Granted, when I had mine I was only seven years old.
Larry KKKlayman took time out from defending himself against child molestation allegations to avoid the rush and smear the next President.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/05/19/serial-insurrectionist-larry-klayman-calls-again-for-revolution-this-time-to-hinder-hillary/
This is a clear violation of the warranty and will be added to the charges in the unsealed affidavit.
My bad, upon further recollection, I had the 64k version, the Color Computer 2. I remember it well, because my Dad being a frugal sort, got it on sale, complete with the tape deck, because they were phasing it out for the Coco3, which had an unheard of 128k or Ram. To this day, my favorite game for the thing was “Dungeons of Daggorath”. My next door neighbor and I came SO close to beating it, but my sister “borrowed” the cassette I used for saving my game progress, and taped over it!
This story rested a bit under the radar.
Does the end really justify the means ?

My first PC was a Kaypro-2 in 1982. In those days we had to write our (dot matrix) printer drivers ourselves. All our BLADE RUNNER coverage (& more) was done on that. Good times! 🙂
MY first computer was a Digital Group Z80 with 10k of RAM and yes, a cassette interface. Three of us went in together to buy it. It was a complete build it yourself kit to put together. One of the guys, a traffic light technician, didn’t think the motherboard was up to scratch and spent a week ‘retinning’ the entire thing. Then we soldered it together and it just worked. I was stunned that it worked at all. The technician also had a Nakamichi 1000 cassette deck that we used. Talk about overkill, but man-o-man was that a sweet cassette deck.
I got almost done writing a full screen ‘TV Typewriter’ text editor in Z80 assembler when the group basically fell apart. I got left with possession, but didn’t have a cassette player at the time so it sort of just got stuck in a corner and forgotten. That is really the last code I wrote in that assembly language family. Tthe Intel 8086/Zylog Z80 => i3/5/7 etc instruction set families are damn near the silliest instruction set I’ve ever seen. Gimme the IBM Mainframe or the CDC 6000 series any day. I don’t care what IBM and Wang say, CDC invented RISC architecture with the 6000 series and it was magnificent.
I found out some time later that the original Multiple Mirror Telescope was being managed by a suite of Digital Group Z80’s just like ours and I found a guy that had a friend that was working there so I donated it to them for spare parts. I don’t know if it actually found its way to the MMT folks or not, but I tried.
Miki booth has shown up in the comments at BR. It will be interesting to see what type of reception she receives.
http://www.birtherreport.com/2014/05/nwv-soetoro-aka-obama-usurped.html
First the birther princess and now the birther queen. That’s right, Orly Taitz left this comment at BR:
“I was invited to a meeting organized by International Criminal court. the meeting will be June 16-20 in Ireland. It will be an opportunity to provide big wigs with the evidence on Obama.”
You betcha, Orly!
She’ll be fresh off her triumph in the CA AG primary election, so they’ll HAVE to take her seriously!
I got a portable Kaypro-2X and daisy wheel printer in 1984–total price tag was $2,700. Each 5 1/4″ floppy disk held a remarkable 200 K, and the CPU had 64 K of RAM! For several years, I was the only faculty member at my college to have a computer in his office. I lugged that thing home every night, even though it was the size of a small suitcase and weighed at least 20 pounds. . . eventually the CRT faded away and by then Kaypro was out of business.
Geez, I get “invited” to things all the time. It’s usually an opportunity to be parted with some of my money. Not very often is it an opportunity to try to convince the genuinely important of the validity of my own self-importance.
But for the record, you’re all invited to be parted with some of your money— er, I mean be genuinely important– on the patio of Che’s Lounge in Tucson next Sunday from 5 to 7. Anything to raise a crowd.
I wonder if Orly’s actually been invited to purchase a time-share?
Che? As in Guevara?
Foolish Obot, you’ve admitted your socialism!
I’m just a plain old Marxist. Hay-bert and Milton, even.
charles c. johnson is denying he’s a birther ( altho he leaves the door open for the frank marshall davis theory ) despite what orly’s press release says:
https://twitter.com/ChuckCJohnson/status/468847487173025794
Orly isn’t being “invited” to anything; she is going back to school:

One of the most prominent PUMA’s and Democratic Obama haters is back:
Lynn Forester de Rothschild was a major fund raiser for Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 Presidential bid and has received attention for endorsing John McCain for President. On June 22, 2011, she hosted a fundraiser for Jon Huntsman, Jr.’s presidential campaign.[10]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Forester_de_Rothschild
At a fundraiser hosted by Lynn de Forester Rothschild last week for Margolies, Hillary Clinton joked about them sharing a grandchild in the future, one attendee said. But Margolies wasn’t at the event — she cited a need to be in her would-be district — and it felt mostly like a kickoff for Clinton’s own political future, the attendee said

Well, I’ll be away for five or so days, Family shindig out of state, so if I do any posting here during, It’ll be under my “Punchmaster via Mobile” handle.
OMG wasn’t that the code word for “Obots hide, the birthers are about to win any day now”? I seem to have lost the most recent code book and replacements take days to get flown in from Betelgeuse IX.
I am partial to the teachings of Harpo and Chico, myself.
(True story: I was once playing a character on stage with a broad, comic Italian dialect. Another actor who had to use a similar dialect asked me a question:
She: What’s your process? Do you listen to tapes? Do you use diacritical marks in your script?
Me: I’m just doing a Chico Marx imitation.)
People do say the damnedest things. About twenty years back I was taking a course in American Literature, for kicks mostly, and had to do a paper. I wrote it out in longhand. The professor typed it up and distributed it to the class as an example of how a paper ought to be written. Another old fart in the class asked me what program I used to produce the paper; I showed him a ballpoint pen and some notebook paper. He remained confused.
You gotta love Chico. That shooting the piano thing always gets me. I’ve done a lot of stage comedy myself, and the brothers have been for me a deep well of inspiring absurdity.
In fairness to her, it was a valid question; when playing a serious role that requires a dialect, a good actor will study that dialect using lots of other methods. For this role, in this show, all I needed was to steal from The Master.

It will be interesting to see how Hillary handles this “third way” crowd. As for Lynn nee Forester, a belated congratulations to her for acquiring the name and title of Rothschild and the privilege of throwing it around while some of us sit here cringing.
We’ve got a new Birfer candidate to follow. Her claims sound vaguely familiar… and, she’s a “Democrat.” Because she says so.

Karl Gall Oops!:”We’re back here on Free Dumb Fridays, Listeners, and, in the category ‘U.S.History’ let’s continue playing Birther Jeopardy today with Mike Violin for $100. Listen to this answer, Mike. Recognized by legal scholars as being the highest law of the land, it was chiefly authored by a Founding patriot, who would later HIMSELF be elected POTUS!”
Mike Violin:”What is a Sheriff’s Kit?” (BING!)
Karl Gall Oops!:”That’s right! Next up we have Reverend Affidavid Namming, and for $100 the topic is, ‘Who’s Who Anywho?’ Okay,Reverend, “This is the official legal name of President Obama as claimed by him, and attested to by Hawaiian vital record Officials”
Namming:” “”What is ‘Long-legged-mack-daddy’”? (BING!)”
Karl Gall Oops!:”Yes! We’re on a Birther-Barf-Roll! Let’s keep it up with ultra-latent Obama-apologist, Tired Navel Comma Door Churkner whose chosen category is, ‘World History”. Okay, Commandeer, for $100, World War 1 and World War 2 were both started by ‘blank’.”
Tired Navel Comma Door Churkner:”Who is :Barry Barack Hussein Soetero Satan Abortion Bozo Ursurper Obama?” (Bing!)
Karl Gall Oops!: “Wow! Does he know his World Wars OR WHAT? And you’ll find that kind of historical accuracy in ALL NINETY of his anti-Obama full page Washington Slimes Newspaper Advertorials! Moving on, let’s try Oily Traitz with the category of ‘Like Pulling Teeth’. Okay Oily, legal scholars agree that these two qualities must be possessed by ANY individual impossibly hoping to successfully remove a sitting President through the courts”
Oily Traits:”Okay, what are 1) a complete ignorance of the practice of law and 2) the inability to use Spell-check?” (Bing!)
Karl Gall Oops! “Right answers! Wow! This is one smart Constitutional Dentist! And to prove that, Oily, we’re going to give you a bonus question sent in by an Obot French lawyer, named Loopin, who doubts your knowledge of history, here it is: Made primarily of metal, this magnificent edifice to personal freedom, whose parts were manufactured in France, reminds us that for emigrants, freedom’s fire burns brightest when a torch-carrying Lady Liberty stokes her old flame with a passion sufficient to make a new comer out of natural born citizen!”
Oily Traits:” Oh! Oh! Oh! I know this one too! What is – a French-made fully reclinable dental chair with triple-thick disposable water-proof founding-document–themed plastic cushion covers bearing the legend, ‘Moisten to release scent!’ ” (Bing!)
Karl Gall Oops!: “CLOSE ENOUGH! And let me insert here…..”
Oily Traits:” YES! Oh, Karl! “
Karl Gall Oops!: “Oily, get a hold of yourself!”
Oily Traits:”I have, Karl! I have! Did Charles mention that I like to have my hair pulled?”
Karl Gall Oops!:”We’ve got to take a break here, Listeners, but we’ll return with Mike Zoo Low and our latest excuse for not releasing that Egg-shell-shattering news about the lack of evidence in the Obama document fraud investigations, and I promise you, this update will be good for at least THREE FULL YEARS! Stay with us, won’t you?”
This should an inspiration to Nancy Owens. All I can say is, “RUN, NANCY, RUN!” But do it as a Republican–you won’t seem so weird.
Well, there’s a reason for that (albeit not an especially good one).
I used to work for one of Intel’s earliest microcontroller customers. They were building terminals and controllers for IBM mainframes, and wanted to make them more-easily programmable. So they adopted the 8008 as the “core” of their CPU, thinking that having all that functionality on one chip would simplify their design.
In fairly short order, the 8008 became a tiny boat afloat in a sea of TTL chips that grew as they banged into more and more of the limitations of a chip that was really designed to run things like pocket calculators and microwave ovens. Sometimes the other chips enhanced the 8008, sometimes they supplanted it, and sometimes they fought with it.
In the end, they wound up with a Frankenstein mixture of parts of Intel’s architecture, with parts of IBM’s architecture (the principals were ex-IBMers) screwed onto the outside, and some kluges to keep the CPU board set from getting big enough to rate its own ZIP code.
Meanwhile, Intel engineers were meeting with their customer from time to time to see how they were doing with what was probably the most ambitious application of the 8008, and noting how they “stretched” the 8-bit architecture with external base address registers and other clever tricks. And thinking about how the tricks used to save chips on a board could also be used to save valuable space on a chip. And apparently, not noticing how those tricks sometimes required programmers to do gymnastics that would give Reed Richards the screaming meemies.
When the 8086 came out, it was obviously not a copy of the B-40 CPU, but clearly drew a lot of inspiration from it. When IBM adopted it for the PC, they were suddenly stuck with the need to maintain compatibility with a large installed base that expected to be able to bring much of their old software to the new machines they were buying. And so kluge piled on kluge, balancing the need to do “”more” while still retaining the ability to do “less”.
Some might argue that it’s no coincidence that the i86 architecture was developed not far from the Winchester Mystery House. 😉
Birther loons and other ODS’ers seem to think they lend more credence to their “cause” by pretending “it’s not a partisan issue”.
Loony Orly has a new “bombshell”:

All I have to say: Mrs. Pryor should eat less grits and gravy…..
I left a reply:
http://www.unslaveamerica.com/georgia-eligibility-case-co-conspirator-jill-pryor-gets-payback-after-lying-for-obama/#comment-9031
The main issue of contention I have is not so much with bloated instruction set or the even the nonsensical multiplicity of addressing modes. It was more the mnemonics the designers gave to their creation. They had STORE instructions that loaded registers (sometimes) and LOAD instructions that stored into memory locations (sometimes). And both LOADs and STOREs might move stuff from one memory location to another, even though there are MOVE instructions too (at least that’s how I remember it from in my fevered imagination). They just made it absolutely diabolical to figure out which instruction you needed to do what, when.
While nowhere as clean as the CDC 6000 set, the IBM Mainframe set is at least CONSISTENT. You LOAD registers from memory or other registers and you STORE registers to memory and you MOVE stuff from one place to another. Consistent.
I remember one particularly nasty program problem I had once. I was writing a program for VM/CMS and monitored the jobs running in guest DOS/VSE partitions. It displayed all kinds of interesting stuff for the operators like tape mount requests and CPU usage, etc. Anyway, I spent days trying to figure out some really weird bug and one night I dreamed I was reading through the code and noticed that I was using a LA (Load from Address) instead of a LR (load from register). The next morning when I got to work I checked it out, and that was exactly the problem.
I’ve still got that program on tape in my library; I really need to find somebody to copy it to a CD for me some day before the tape disintegrates.
Since I have to assume the Mall is still clogged with the millions of Birfoons who vowed not to leave until Obama left the WHITE House, it was rather brave of him to mingle with those millions and to pose for pictures.

Any century now the 300 million bikers will arrive. It’s gonna be one hell of a “Sons of Anarchy” series finale. 😉
FUBO, one of the window-lickers over at Birfoon Report, posts a story about a professor in Floriduh who forged his credentials, completely missing the irony that all this proves is that actual forgeries are easy to spot, that the authorities become involved when actual forgeries are detected, and that the grades issued by the fraudulent professor are NOT voided; there is no Magic Reset Button, Birfoons, even if your fervid fantasies about OMG LAYERS were true.
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/oddnews/admired-college-professor-maintains-lie-about-doctorate-for-five-years-until-he%E2%80%99s-revealed-as-a-fraud-204550505.html
Actually, it took them 5 years to spot it.
And how long has Obama been in office?
So, there’s your proof: they’re definitely going to nail him this year.
Let me clarify: it took them fifteen seconds, after they actually bothered to look. And they didn’t have to create a ludicrous narrative about “layers” to do it.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He’s so scared of the OAS and the birthers…he was right there for the arresting!!! They missed their chance with their 30 million backers to get it done! Another lost opportunity. 😆
Another story for you Doc, President walks among the people, doesn’t get arrested!
So you may have heard we had some unpleasantness here last week. This happened very near me; I drive by this fella’s street practically daily. Apparently, he believes he was “targeted” by the fires, because Obamanation. Must be seen to be believed. They live and walk and derp among us.

One of the more creative birther images I have seen:

Doc, I thought the exact same thing earlier today when I saw it at Birfoon Report. I was actually surprised they’d finally managed something with wit, misguided as it may be.
Great comment:

The principal of my high school was fired the last day of my senior year after it was discovered that he had falsified some of his credentials. His signature is on my diploma, yet I’m fairly certain that I’m a high school graduate.
Sermon of the day
I almost fell out of the choir this morning when the supply pastor opened his sermon with a definition of “confirmation bias.” It’s funny that he followed that by saying that no one would remember the phrase afterwards. He didn’t develop the topic that I could tell, but I did remember the opening.
Dr. Conspiracy: Sermon of the day
could this have been the impetus for the “sermon of the day” & “confirmation bias”?
your article title: Assisting law enforcement with their investigation
No, the visiting supply pastor couldn’t have known anything about that.
On that story, I got some feedback. My evidence proved key in identifying a suspect who is being sought now. It helped tie him to other crimes.
Dr. Conspiracy: No, the visiting supply pastor couldn’t have known anything about that.
thanks for the clarification, doc, and GREAT WORK, comme d’habitude
My apologies for a misstatement some time back. I said that Trey Gowdy was formerly my Congressional representative. I had him confused with J. Gresham Barrett who represented the 3rd District when I lived there.
Trey Gowdy is my current Congressman here in the 4th District.
Birfoon Report is a sight to behold; no new post since the Gallups smackdown one, not even a cursory Memorial Day post… and that Gallups smackdown post is a hoot! Currently over 500 replies, mods are deleting dissent as fast as it’s posted, and the infighting is glorious to see.
They’re in full meltdown, and it’s entertaining as hell.
Br needs a distraction, and fast. Lol. Maybe they can ape some of Orly’s poopies.
They finally got what they’ve been yammering for: their very own version of the Arab Spring. I hope they’re enjoying it.
I think they got one: if it weren’t for Gallups, they’d be stuck sulking about the epic fails of OAS, Strunk, Vogt, and Orly.
Instead, they’re indulging in the traditional revolutionaries’ sport of “Purge the Unorthodox”. It gets the blood flowing again. In more ways than one 😉
They succeeded in fading out the “OAS failure” facts quickly by hurling in another “Sheriff Joe about to release his stuff” post. (After all, nobody is even mentioning OAS anymore.) I’m sure when Gallups threw in that “NSA vs. Xerox” bit, BR knew this would be a welcome diversion from the Birfer Civil War. After all, even non-cranks can go on about the NSA for days on end. Let’s stay tuned…
Why do I keep seeing the stoning scene from “Life of Brian” when I see this lot of idiots….JEHOVAH !!!!!….. 😎
Well, they just got one: Kerchner tipped BR to a month-old youtube video buy someone who fell for Shrimpton’s “CIA DNA test” story, wrapped it in a bunch of long-discredited myths (he’s even got the fake “Welcome to Kenya” roadsign in it), and wants a special prosecutor to subpoena Obama’s DNA just like the last one did Clinton’s. Unless, of course, they can lift the evil spell that Obama put on the CIA, and get them to cough up their results. Maybe they can get Orly to file a badly-written FOIA request, and spend a year or two misinterpreting the response…
I’m still banned at BR, but I rolled the Shrimpton “Oops: I made it up” daffydavit flashbang into the youtube comments room. Should be lots of shock and outrage when I come back in the morning 😉
Had a great little trip. Didn’t stop me from popping by to poke John with a stick a couple of times.
Follow up to Paige v. Obama
http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/politics/2014/05/22/high-court-denies-vt-natural-born-citizen-obama-case/9453291/
“Paige said Thursday he would ask the nation’s highest court to reconsider its decision, but acknowledged getting it to change its mind on the matter is unlikely.”
Paige has a better chance of winning a switchblade fight against a speeding semi cab!
Paige is a sad, sad case.
I emailed my usual Vattel correction screed to the journalist; if Paige is hopeless, maybe some of the readers might learn something.
So, what do you think Orly’s excuse will be, for losing the AG race?
I predict it will be a mix of owl screeches, and accusations of “voter fraud”. But then again, that’s her excuse for everything, from why they no longer sell Crystal Pepsi, all the way to why they forget the pickles, when she orders a burger.
Her husband is either deaf, or a saint.
Also, I checked Cody Robert Judy’s page today. I’m not sure what it was that I just read. The disconnect from reality is so strong in that one…
From LFG site:http://littlegreenfootballs.com/article/43427_Dr._Ben_Carson_Birther-_From_Where_Were_You_-Obama-_Applying_To_Columbia
Carson’s answers define the entire birther movement of “just asking questions”.
Carson: “I don’t believe that’s true, no, but what I’m saying is that there is reason that some people might be suspicious. I’m not one of them”
Of course he is peddling his book and thinking about running for president.
—————————————————————-
In this interview with Alan Colmes from earlier this week, Dr. Ben Carson does the birther two step, saying that while he does believe President Obama was born in Hawaii, it is also reasonable for people to be suspicious about his background. To support his argument, he brings up the old canard about his college records:
Colmes: For example, I never heard of a president before questioned about his birth certificate, being treated as if he was a foreign, “not one of us,” “he’s a secret Muslim;” doesn’t that arise out of some sort of soft bigotry?
Carson: Well, I would say that the best way to put that to rest is expose everything, including your academic records. Let us know, you know, where did you apply – when you applied to Columbia, from where were you applying?
Colmes: – at Occidental. But he’s released both versions of a birth certificate, and that wasn’t even enough for those who kept criticizing him for not releasing the information. They said, “that’s not real.” They continue to say it wasn’t real.
Carson: But don’t you think, and try to be totally objective in answering this question –
Colmes: Okay
Carson: Don’t you think it is reasonable for people who are seeking public office, or are in public office, to allow people to see what they’re getting, and to expose their past records?
Colmes: (overlap) No that’s fair. What you said is fair, but you just said a few moments ago, would you have the same reaction were it a white person versus a black person, no white president has ever been asked to produce a birth certificate.
Carson: But has there been anybody else who has had a shroud of secrecy around their records like this?
Colmes: Do you have any question about whether he was born in this country?
Carson: I do have questions about where he applied from, when he applied to Columbia.
Colmes: But do you have any questions about whether he was born in the United States?
Carson: That has not been an issue for me.
Colmes: So you know he was born in Hawaii?
Carson: I accept that that’s the case.
Colmes: So what I’m saying is that the birther movement, questioning whether the president was even born here, saying he’s really a Kenyan, he’s really an African, and he’s not even a Christian, he’s really a Muslim, a white president never had to go through that.
Carson: I don’t think that it is racially motivated. I do think that people want to know, because, you know, be objective, you have somebody whose name is Barack Hussein Obama –
Colmes: Right.
Carson: – there is secrecy about some of his records, there’s something that’s been written in the past which I’m sure you’re familiar with that says he was born somewhere else –
Colmes: Do you believe that?
Carson: I don’t believe that’s true, no, but what I’m saying is that there is reason that some people might be suspicious. I’m not one of them

They’re all decompensating; they’re not even trying to make their usual specious arguments about Vattel or layers or Indonesian adoption. Every post is now a gay slur, a Muslim slur, a veiled threat, or some combination of those. BR has devolved into a gibbering monkey house, and the monkeys are egging each other on. It’s extraordinary.
Their bigotry and hatred of their fellow American citizens is all that the birther movement has left in it. But if you think about all the ineffectiveness of everything they’ve tried, that’s really all they ever had!
Also, if I’m understanding her latest scribbles, long time birther “Dr. Kate” is packing it in.
Yup. It appears that as the number of comments in a given post go up, the intelligence of the commenters goes down. They’ve long since stop responding to the actual subject of a thread and are simply throwing crap around.
A Nate Silver tweet from today:
The context is somewhat different, but I thought it was birfer-relevant, as they spent all that time looking for the damn gold coins they were sure were there, and getting absolutely giddy as they found an 1890 here, a Bounel there… and Silver is talking about data sets a little cleaner than skiptrace sites, of course!
(I’m going to speak of the birthers in the past tense from here on out, as it’s ever-more obvious, occasional eruptions from professional rabble rousers like Ben Carson aside, that we’re pretty much done here.)
BR poster “Barry Soetoro, ESQ”, just can’t stand that fact that Doc and Foggy are up and around. The guy posts more death fantasies than a chatroom full of emo teenagers.
Gallups is just sooo March 2014. The new shiny object at BR is — well, an old shiny object — the Donald!
http://www.birtherreport.com/2014/05/national-press-club-trump-defends-call.html
Wow. The best they can do is “The Dolan”?
Oh, that is HILARIOUS.
Well in a excess of 500 comments, last I looked, now GONE??
Too funny; “pay no attention to the tantrums behind the curtain!”
Apparently so: I see in the twitfeed that Fuddy’s death is “breaking news” again.
This is like one of those plane crash/Donner Party movies, where the survivors see that there isn’t even any tree bark left, and begin to realize they are desperate enough to start eating each other.
Is birther a dish best served cold?
Yes, but on the bright side they make their own gravy.
I noticed that Orly Taitz has filed a response in opposition to the opposition to her motion to file more stuff in Mississippi.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/224364497/SDMS-ECF-114-Taitz-v-MSDPM-2014-05-14-Taitz-Reply-to-Opposition
So if Taitz doesn’t file anything else, the Court could rule on all of the outstanding motions.
Best put in the Dispose All.
That’s a mighty big “if.”
Ugh.
Cold gravy.
Is there anything more unpalatable than cold gravy?
On the bright side, here’s How to Make Gravy
This is the video of Bill (Foggy) Bryan’s address to the 2014 Fogbow Meetup in Philadelphia. It is interesting that he didn’t find birthers the topic he wanted to talk about.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qapVcB6YoX8
He also loves posting jpegs of racist images of the President and Flotus, because that’s how arguments are won. I can see him now in debate class at school, holding up a poster board with defamatory picture of his opponent. Must have been a master debater.
He was probably the kid that the chess club beat up.
Stumbled onto this…

8. What country is Hawaii in?
It’s not just birthers! 😆
I want to check out this article at BR to see if it’s what they say it is.
http://www.birtherreport.com/2014/05/media-shattering-sheriff-joe-exposes.html
It would be really cool if it were true that Fox News prohibits mentioning birthers.
CNN gave them lots of coverage back in the day when birthers were newsworthy.
George Miller’s deposition for the Klayman v. Judicial Watch lawsuit was posted at the Fogbow.
Miller testified he reads the “opposition” sites, and specifically names this one.
Between Miller and Vogt, birthers just lurve their Doc C.!
I am only through part one. It is fascinating and gets quite testy between the attorney for Judicial Watch and the sleazeball. I can tell the court reporter would like to give all parties a swift kick in the nuts.

Nice. I’m with Foggy.
Well, they’ll never admit it, because they don’t want to die in a hail of sup3r s3kr1t CIA heart attack darts…
The oldest scan of this site by the Wayback Machine was January 21, 2009, in it’s second month of operation. Interestingly by then there were already 27 articles in the Wild & Wacky category.
One of my favorites was:

Recent discussion on the meaning of NBC and Minor v. Happersett:
http://originalismblog.typepad.com/the-originalism-blog/2014/05/natural-born-citizens-and-minor-v-happersettmichael-ramsey.html
“I don’t think Minor has direct implications for the original meaning of the eligibility clause (it’s more significant for the Fourteenth Amendment). First, it was decided long after the clause was adopted. Second, it (properly) did not purport to decide the question, and recognized that there were authorities on both sides; it limited itself to the wholly non-controversial proposition that persons born in the U.S. of U.S. citizen parents were citizens. (Incidentally, the Court’s argument for why this included women is very persuasive and well-argued on historical textualist grounds). Third, it did not point to specific evidence from the founding era in support of either side.” Professor Michael Ramsey, UC San Diego School of Law
And a second article:
http://originalismblog.typepad.com/the-originalism-blog/2014/05/a-further-exchange-on-natural-born-citizensmichael-ramsey.html?utm_content=bufferf60e7&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
“To sum up: (a) persons born in England to alien parents were natural born subjects under the common law; accordingly I think persons born in the U.S. to alien parents were natural born citizens, and (b) persons born abroad to English parents were not natural born subjects under the common law, but parliament had power to make them natural born citizens by its power of naturalization; so I think Congress was given a similiar power by Article I, Section 8, clause 4. I don’t see anything that undermines these conclusions (but I’m happy to have something pointed out).” Professor Michael Ramsey, UC San Diego School of Law
So Birther Report has new article up with the graphic “Natural Born Citizen for Dummies.” It lives up to its title as one of the dumber articles I’ve seen on the subject. Even Mario Apuzzo isn’t crazy enough to say “the Law of Nations” phrase in the Constitution refers to Vattel’s book.

I had a birther tell me the other day that because “Law” and “Nations” were capitalized, it had to be referring to a proper noun, which HAD to be Vattel’s book. I then pointed out that EVERY noun in that clause is capitalized.
What I don’t understand is why people presume Chief Justice Waite was talking primarily about children of immigrant aliens in the first place. He’d already said,
“Whoever, then, was one of the people of either of these States when the Constitution of the United States was adopted, became ipso facto a citizen—a member of the nation created by its adoption. He was one of the persons associating together to form the nation, and was, consequently, one of its original citizens. As to this there has never been a doubt. Disputes have arisen as to whether or not certain persons or certain classes of persons were part of the people at the time, but never as to their citizenship if they were.”
It seems pretty plain to me, especially considering Chief Justice Taney’s argument in Scott v. Sandford (a case that would’ve been kind of a big deal to Morrison Waite) that slaves and their descendants could not be citizens because they were not “part of the people” of the United States, that Waite was talking in Minor about persons who couldn’t be citizens at all. Persons not considered free and white.
From Chief Justice Taney’s opinion in Scott v. Sandford:
“The words ‘people of the United States’ and ‘citizens’ are synonymous terms, and mean the same thing. They both describe the political body who, according to our republican institutions, form the sovereignty, and who hold the power and conduct the Government through their representatives. They are what we familiarly call the ‘sovereign people,’ and every citizen is one of this people, and a constituent member of this sovereignty. The question before us is, whether the class of persons described in the plea in abatement compose a portion of this people, and are constituent members of this sovereignty? We think they are not, and that they are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word ‘citizens’ in the Constitution, and can therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United States. On the contrary, they were at that time considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings, who had been subjugated by the dominant race, and, whether emancipated or not, yet remained subject to their authority, and had no rights or privileges but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them…
“In the opinion of the court, the legislation and histories of the times, and the language used in the Declaration of Independence, show, that neither the class of persons who had been imported as slaves, nor their descendants, whether they had become free or not, were then acknowledged as a part of the people, nor intended to be included in the general words used in that memorable instrument.”
“But it is too clear for dispute, that the enslaved African race were not intended to be included, and formed no part of the people who framed and adopted this declaration; for if the language, as understood in that day, would embrace them, the conduct of the distinguished men who framed the Declaration of Independence would have been utterly and flagrantly inconsistent with the principles they asserted; and instead of the sympathy of mankind, to which they so confidently appealed, they would have deserved and received universal rebuke and reprobation…
“We need not refer, on this point, particularly to the laws of the present slaveholding States. Their statute books are full of provisions in relation to this class, in the same spirit with the Maryland law which we have before quoted. They have continued to treat them as an inferior class, and to subject them to strict police regulations, drawing a broad line of distinction between the citizen and the slave races, and legislating in relation to them upon the same principle which prevailed at the time of the Declaration of Independence. As relates to these States, it is too plain for argument, that they have never been regarded as a part of the people or citizens of the State, nor supposed to possess any political rights which the dominant race might not withhold or grant at their pleasure. And as long ago as 1822, the Court of Appeals of Kentucky decided that free negroes and mulattoes were not citizens within the meaning of the Constitution of the United States; and the correctness of this decision is recognized, and the same doctrine affirmed, in 1 Meigs’s Tenn. Reports, 331.”
And far from being “too clear for dispute,” it was disputed in that very case by Justice Curtis:
“That Constitution was ordained and established by the people of the United States, through the action, in each State, or those persons who were qualified by its laws to act thereon, in behalf of themselves and all other citizens of that State. In some of the States, as we have seen, colored persons were among those qualified by law to act on this subject. These colored persons were not only included in the body of ‘the people of the United States,’ by whom the Constitution was ordained and established, but in at least five of the States they had the power to act, and doubtless did act, by their suffrages, upon the question of its adoption. It would be strange, if we were to find in that instrument anything which deprived of their citizenship any part of the people of the United States who were among those by whom it was established.”
I think Justice Gray’s opinion in US v. Wong Kim Ark casts more illumination on the nature of those “doubts”:
“Passing by questions once earnestly controverted, but finally put at rest by the fourteenth amendment of the constitution, it is beyond doubt that, before the enactment of the civil rights act of 1866 or the adoption of the constitutional amendment, all white persons, at least, born within the sovereignty of the United States, whether children of citizens or of foreigners, excepting only children of ambassadors or public ministers of a foreign government, were native-born citizens of the United States.”
I think that to presume Chief Justice Waite was referring primarily– if at all– to the children of immigrant aliens is to try to throw a coat of modern concerns over the issues we KNOW had been of vital importance– literally life-and-death, hundreds of thousands of times over– to Waite’s generation.
Every noun in the US Constitution is capitalized.
That’s interesting, Doc. My first thought upon reading this was that it must be because English is a Germanic language, and nouns are capitalized in German.
After a quick Internet search, I’m not so sure of that theory now, because nouns in Old English and Middle English texts were not all capitalized. Apparently, this trend in English ended not long after the US Constitution was written.
Denmark did away with the practice in 1948. Not sure why, but I bet that’s right around the time the term “Grammar Nazi” was coined (Heil Umlaut! 😀 ).
Not EVERY noun. There’s the odd omission to the rule here and there; for example, “defence” and “ourselves” in the Preamble. Which is why I was sure to specify that particular clause.
“Ourselves” is a pronoun.
If you read BR, the video has Arpaio talking about the Obama Identity fraud on Fox News radio, and the Fox guy saying that Fox didn’t allow them to talk about birthers.
What actually happened was that Arpaio talked about Obama Identity fraud on a local access cable channel in California.
In the Fox interview he use similar language about “sensitive investigations” but never hints at birtherism, and of course the Fox interviewer didn’t mention it either.
Okay, I figured “ourselves” would be questionable, but “defence” is pretty straightforward. Other nouns not capitalized include “enumeration” and “vacancies” in Article I, Section 2; and “removal,” “disqualification,” and “honor” in Article I, Section 3.
Hell, nouns (and other words) in Old and Middle English weren’t even spelled: the writers just sort of threw down some letters that they thought would give the reader the right idea of what the spoken word sounded like 😉
I vaguely recall reading, a long time ago, that noun capitalization was a practice borrowed from German. Possibly a “formal mode” for writings like legal documents??? I could well be wrong about that, though.
Oops: it appears that birfers are so accusotmed to reading unintentional satire sites that they’ve lost the ability to detect the intentional ones.
Lol yup hermitian also fell for this on amazon.
So LDS’s latest crazy plot twist, is that not only is he being extradited to Kenya, he’s also being charged with treason! Which, according to him, means the death penalty.
Once again, he damages his own story without even realizing it!
If he was really facing such a steep punishment, he’d high tail it back to the US of A, despite the outstanding warrants for his arrest here. Why? Because AFAIK the US doesn’t comply with extradition demands, like the one Smith claims Kenya is making.
I am also waiting for any of the the Birthers to explain why Waite then administered the oath (the second time) to Chester Arthur. Did the CJ forget his own ruling?
I just came across some more crazy:
http://docs.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/maryland/mddce/8:2014cv01684/278942/3/0.pdf
“On May 27, 2014, Mary Aku Quartey (“Quartey”), a self-represented plaintiff who
temporarily resides at a shelter in the District of Columbia, filed this action against President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. She seemingly claims that she is a “predictor and inventor” and a Congresswoman and that the Obamas and other listed individuals plan to assassinate her “world” and steal her “identity to fraud her capital wealth, congressional seats and properties.” ECF No. 1. She asks that they be sentenced to prison.”
Filed on Tuesday and dismissed on Wednesday. Admirable celerity.
They don’t like it when you point out the chapter from Blackstone’s Commentaries, “Of Offences Against the Law of Nations.”
I too was an OS/9 developer.
Frank Hogg is still around, by the way. He’s taken up writing.
In days gone by I was a law librarian, and had routine access to all kinds of material. It was a hobby of mine to follow some of the wonderfully twisted, steadfastly persistent, bat guano crazy vexatious litigants. Occasionally some motion or other would reach someone with a sense of humor and that would be a treat. Usually of course they just got the perfunctory recording and round file treatment.
The disappointing one to me is Forrest Mims, who is now an Intelligent Design proponent and global warming denier.
I’m nearing the age where I actually need to fear succumbing to dementia myself 🙁
Did you know that there is an official game of the CCP? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d1/Keystone_Kapers_cover.jpg

Don’t let the simple Atari graphics fool you! This game is an astonishingly realistic interpretation of the exploits of Zullo and pals! In the game you run around the screen, accomplishing bugger all, collecting money along the way, until time runs out! Now due the the Atari 2600’s hardware limitations, you do have to supply your own mustache.
Man…Now I’m craving me some Atari!
Hmm.. Who pulled the plug? Fogbow site is down (10:40 a.m.PST) 😛
They got Foggy! Birdbrain’s fantasies have come true! I’m switching sides before it’s too late!
I just mentioned it in a text to Foggy (on an unrelated matter). I will report if he gives me any info.
Carl Gallups to take your calls about the amazing, shocking, shattering revelations by Mike Zullo.

Update on FB:
“SITE ANNOUNCEMENTS
We’re experiencing some sort of DDOS attack. I’m working on it.”
Ooo, did a BR brat discover ddos scripts? Ohs noes!
I’m guessing that this will not include the “revelation” that birfers do not take any more kindly to being insulted than sane people do…
Looks good now.
today, at the republican leadership conference was speaker & birther trump:
Trump gave no indication that he was going to change his mind on the question of the president’s birthplace, and reminded reporters that he also wanted to see Obama’s college records, a request that was denied.
“Look, I offered him five million dollars, as you remember, and then in the last moments I even increased it to 50 million. I didn’t want see his marks. I just wanted to see his records,” Trump said. “And he would have been doing a great thing because that money would have gone to charity, it could have gone to Chicago youth, it could have gone to any charity that he picked. That was up to fifty million dollars to share some records from college and he chose not to do it.”
If Obama was actually born in the US, Trump says, “I would have been totally happy about that. In fact, I would have probably preferred it because that would mean we would have a president for whom everything was fine.”
He then suggested that Obama may have lied about actually being born in Kenya when applying for college because being from an African country would have helped him get into college and would have increased his chances for financial aid.
“You might say it is a distraction, I tell you, I have more fans and more followers, I have millions of people coming up to me on the street saying, ‘Don’t give that fight up.’” Trump said. “I am not giving it up. I am onto [the issue of growing] jobs, I am on to stopping China from ripping this country, because they are treating us very badly as a country. I am onto many other things.”
But the issue, as he sees it, remains.
“But certainly it is not something in my opinion that is a distraction at all. There is a great level of popularity. He should have taken the fifty million and given it to charity. I mean why would someone not take 50 million and give it to charity? That is a lot of money.”
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/30/donald-trump-is-still-a-birther.html
Unlike Trump, Obama won’t do other people’s bidding for money.
—–
Poor Trump. Stuck with his money, and unable to donate it to charity. Why? Obama!
Maybe he should give the money to all the contractors he stiffs in every bankruptcy.
Except Trump didn’t have $50M to give. All he has is his name, which some value a LOT less than he does.
If I remember correctly, didn’t somebody point out that it would actually be illegal for Obama to accept the offer, that it would be an impeachable offense because it would be a quid pro quo?
I wonder what Lloyd’s would charge to insure Trump’s proposition?
My guess would be $50M + overhead + pain-in-the-ass fee.
That’s about as “intelligent” as Jedi Pauly’s claims that “Citizen” was legally different from “citizen”. I used to battle him over this years ago on the Pest & eFail before I got banned. He was never able to tell me how “Year” differed from “year” or “Nineteenth” from “nineteenth”.
I think Gordon Epperly’s got a whole treatise about Capitalization For Dummies somewhere.
I don’t know if this has been reported earlier, but Duncan Sunahara’s appeal to get a super-dooper copy of his late sister’s b.c. has been dismissed.

Birther pioneer Jerome Corsi: Impeach Obama for immigration reform
Jerome Corsi, the right-wing conspiracy theorist who helped put “birtherism” on the map, is yet again calling for President Obama to be impeached. This time he’s upset about immigration reform.

Nope, Racial Groups Do Not “Genetically Inherit” Behavior
(excerpt) Former New York Times writer Nicholas Wade recent made a “scientific” argument for white supremacy, claiming that Europeans are genetically predisposed to “nonviolence, literacy, thrift and patience.” Now, Scientific American has published an essay showing why this is complete nonsense.

I’m guessing old Nick never read Sho-Gun.
Commenters at BR are issuing challenges regarding Obama’s BC PDF being altered 3 times, but none of them is willing to explain or provide a link. Anybody here know what they are talking about?
Some conflation with Vogt’s forger count (3)? They’re assuming his tale is that 3 seprate persons modified the document separately?
Do any of the names “World War I”, “Holocaust”, “Witch Craze”, “Tulip Mania”, or “Inquisition” ring a bell, Mr. Wade?
No. And neither do they.
Unless the third “modification” is where the PDF passes through the birfers’ built-in Reality Exclusion Filter™, and is magically transformed from “an image” into “a legal (and, of course, forged) document”.
Probably
Original ‘short form”
Sussanah Guthrie photo
The “long form”
Then again who knows….It is a tenet of faith with Birthers that Obama is illegitimate ergo all documentation is false
Been admiring your oeuvre on YouTube, Doc – tho it is sad to see many fine irony meters gone before their time.
I didn’t feel well enough to try Jedi Pauly’s offerings, and I have a lot of urgent stuff to do today so can’t risk any adverse reaction………
I just wish I could remember how I came across it all
Looks like Mike has a new friend: Randy Foreman, the guy who recently did the awful videos trying to trap Congresscritters on the birfer issue (but who also redeemed himself, a little bit, by putting Vogt’s sealed daffydaivit online), has written an equally-awful puff piece on Zullo. It’s a hilarious mish-mash of mixed metaphors, gross factual errors, and sycophancy.
I think we need to demand his BC, to see whether Sharon Rondeau and/or Mark Gillar are listed as parents…
When of course the Constitution says
“Offenses against the Law of Nations”,
not “Offenses against The Law of Nations”, let alone “Offenses against ‘The Law of Nations'”…
These people must’ve reverted to an English level before elementary school. Quite interesting how blind ODS can render a fool.
Randy is a real comer in the Birfoon movement; it was just a few months ago that he made his debut, discovered by Roy Edroso:

I will be traveling because of a death in the family, so I will be mostly not blogging until Tuesday.
Have a safe trip Doc.
sorry for your loss, doc, safe trip
I’m sorry to hear that, Doc.
Be safe.
My condolences, Doc.
Please add my sympathy and support to the deck, Doc.
Thanks, and to the others who commented.
My aunt was the last of my parents’ generation in the family to pass. She was always a ray of sunshine and a helper to others. But old age and eventual death is the way of the world.
Me too.
Orly’s latest victim appears to be someone named Paul Laguette, a graphic designer. She asks:
“I am trying to find if this person is in any way connected to Obama’s team: Scott J. Tepper, Bob Bauer, Valerie Jarett, David Axelrod, Alvin Onaka, Loretta Fuddy, Abercrombie? Have anyone seen any documents released by any of these people, which have the same anomalies as Obama’s BC and SSS”
I’ve never heard of the guy.
Be safe Dr., funerals are good for the living, the deceased are to be remembered, fondly.
