Donald Trump: Birther by proxy

Donald Trump was a vocal birther back in 2011, the year Obama humiliated him at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner after releasing his birth certificate to the press. Still, Trump persisted, at least on Twitter:

Now Trump doesn’t talk so much about that, but oddly some folks around him still do (and Hillary Clinton certainly has not forgotten).

The first was former Trump campaign manager Cory Lewandowski who threw out a variant of the 2009 April Fools joke (no longer a joke when people still believe it on April 2) that Obama went to college as a foreign student. The original version had him as a foreign student at Occidental College and Lewandowski has substituted Harvard. That myth plays to xenophobic bias in people that believe that foreigners get into college ahead of them—which is demonstrably not the case. You can read the full story at the New York Times.

Now Trump’s campaign chair for New York, Carl Paladino, said that most folks are convinced Obama is a Muslim, and he says that Obama is “not a Christian.” That story was covered by several news outlets including the Huffington Post. Readers here may remember that Paladino was the Thrifty car rental franchise owner who in 2012 put “Vote for the AMERICAN” bumper stickers on his rentals. While Paladino defended his actions by saying Obama just acted un-American, it was uncovered that Paladino had tweeted support for a fake Kenyan birth certificate for Obama and forwarded birther emails.

  1. I am not on a campaign to hang the birther albatross around Donald Trump’s neck. He’s doing that himself.

Paladino, backed by the Tea Party, was the Republican candidate for governor of New York in 2010, He was buried by Andrew Cuomo, 63%-33.5%

He was criticized for sending racist and sexually explicit e-mails and for giving an anti-gay speech to Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn.

  5. We didn’t really need any additional proof that Carl Paladino is an obnoxious 24-carat nativist asshole…but here it is.

Polls conducted by CNN before and AFTER the release of that certificate showed more than 60% of American’s doubted Obama was eligible to run for president.

The Surprise Tea Party Patriots “Truth Squad” ? Sheriff Joe? WND? The Very Cold Case Posse experts and various other misguided folks in the Birther Movement (BM)? Pat Boone? *FALCON*? Lisa Allen? Former AZ Rep. Carl Seel? The list goes on…

  8. Do you have a link to that poll? That number sounds like one for Republicans, not for Americans overall.

It is certainly inconsistent with this CNN Poll result from 2015.

And speaking about Sheriff Joe, look at this survey that was done for the voters of Maricopa County to make a Republican Primary voting decision for sheriff. Joe Arpaio was above it all and failed to reply to the survey. Not surprising for King Joe.

That was Jerome Corsi’s take on the CNN polls, but it is only true if you regard people who said that Obama “probably” was born in the United States as “doubting” that he was born in the United States.

The actual results of the CNN poll released on August 5, 2010:

Definitely born in the U.S.: 42%
Probably born in the U.S.: 29%
    Probably born elsewhere: 29%

A subsequent CNN poll in 2011 showed that nearly 75% of Americans believed Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States.

By last September only 20% of Americans doubted that Obama was born in the United States, and only 9% believed that there is solid evidence that he was not born in the United States.

And yet 52% VOTED FOR HIM

Ah, not actually. Only 54.9% of the Voting Age Population actually bothered to vote. So only 52% of 54.9% of the VAP voted for him (28.5%). That leaves 71.5% of the VAP that did NOT vote for him.

You’re a Scientist, I would have thought you should have noticed that little “problem”. 8-).

That is true. Many of those who doubted Obama’s eligibility didn’t consider the issue important enough to get off their duffs and vote. So what they “think” is of no great importance.

As for the word “doubt” what does it mean? Less than 100% certainty. Very few things approach 100% certainty. I am not certain of where I, myself, was born, because I don’t remember the blessed event. The only people I feel certain I know where they were born are my children. When it comes to presidential candidates (all of them) I wasn’t there for their births, therefore I cannot be certain.

“That house on the hilltop–can you see what color they’ve painted it?”

  16. I’ve noticed it a lot more…

The Birther Issue is still being used by many MSM Sources to disparage Trump. Chris Mathews (aka. “Tingles” because in 2008 Obama gave him chills) declares it’s Trump’s “Original Sin”

By using that to attack Trump I think they are unwittingly holding the door open.

The U.S. Supreme Court has not ruled the issue out by hearing it and officially giving an opinion on it.

Trump’s claim to fame in the Political Arena is indeed as Mathews States, the Birther Issue or Art. II. Sect.1, C-5 qualification.

If you don’t think Democrats are worried about it, why after so many years and so many news reports is it unresolved, and the fact Trump brought it up not taken him down in the GOP Nomination?

Obama’s father was a Kenya Citizen and Obama inherited that the same as he did from his mother’s inheritance. If Both are equally valid it places a fractured and disqualifying Citizenship in the U.S. Office of President.

If we include another prong of qualification, that of soil being the jurisdiction of Law born under we find trouble also, but it is not really necessary as Obama’s “inherited citizenship” from his father is all that is needed to compromise [natural born Citizen] ie. Born in the U.S. to Citizen Parents.

Chris Mathews here seems really twisting reasonabiity as he hypothicates a fabrication of Obama’s white relatives and single mother not needing financial aide for food stamps, social security, and school as reasons for getting a birth certificate, to their getting one because they thought he would be President someday. It’s really absurd.

    Which is reasonably more likely?

In his analysis he attributes all of Kenya’s Parliament, many Kenyan Elected Officials, even Obama’s black half-of-family as Liars in a Racist Bigotry himself, as they all claim Obama to be a native soil son of Kenya. It’s really sad.

Why was Obama’s mother getting her Passport “renewed” in 1965 if they are good for 5 years? She would have had her original at 18 the year she had Obama 1960-61.

Why did she need one at 18? She proved willing to follow her second husband Soetoro to Indonesia why not her first to Kenya?

This video details the Record of Kenya’s Parliament and Elected Officials very nicely along with Obama’s relatives in Kenya Africa all of which Chris Mathews claims are Liars in a racial disparity. I am very saddened by this. . It’s awful Reporting

[ “Mr. Obama, is a son of the soil of this country (Kenya). Every other country in this continent is celebrating the Obama win. It is only proper and fitting that the country which he originates should show the same excitement, pomp and colour.”]

Sources to consider: Assuming Barack Obama Jr. was born Aug. 4, 1961, and the baby was full-term, Dunham quit the University of Hawaii when she was two months pregnant while her husband-to-be continued his studies at the same school without interruption.

Smoking Gun.. Ann’s Original Passport Record
[Upon the release of Dunham’s passport files, they were examined and in her renewal application, dated August 13, 1968, she lists Barack Hussein Obama (Soebarkah). Obama would have been eight years old at the time, just about to turn nine.]

[ This file indicates via the 1967 passport amendment application (document marked P3) that Stanley Ann (Dunham) Obama had a passport for certain issued to her 1965 and she was applying to amend it. Thus, she had one for sure in 1965. Since a passport was good for 5 years, that means if the 1965 issued passport was a renewal that she likely got her first passport possibly as early as late 1960 or early 1961. How does that fit the narrative to explain the information coming out of Kenya that Obama was born there? Why did she need a passport at age 18? ]

While I’m sure this in the majority of opinions here has been circled and circled, it begs the question or rather the critique, Why haven’t anti-Birthers done a better job making this an asset instead of a liability?

Trump won the nomination of the Republican Party with some very tough competition and Bush Rubio Cruz are some of the toughest anti Birthers in the Country with sizable war chest.

One might ponder as an anti Birther now why the big R word doesn’t have an impact on Trump supporters especially if it’s spitting rounds out like an automatic 50 caliber around Chris Mathews mouth?

I suspect the focus groups Democrats experimented on were 76% Democrats so they felt good about what they were paying for. The truth may indeed be that the abuse of Truth eventually has its way like the boy calling wolf.

They’very spent that Racist Powder boys and girls till the meaning polluted itself down from a stick of dynamite to that of a sparkler.

Whose responsible for that happening in 7 and a half years? You called every Black Elected Officials in Kenya Liars, Every Black Relative of Obama’s in Kenya Liars, every Republican in America who believed the Black People in Kenya Racist Chris Mathews and can figure Trump’s shield from it?

You created that shield. Now panicked Hillary’s spending a million dollars to Trump’s $1 …. and he’s close?

    What’s the story there?

  17. Heh, I do that myself.

I would consider it an act of self-loathing on the part of the American people to elect a birther as president.

Cody Robert Judy: The Birther Issue is still being used by many MSM Sources to disparage Trump.

  18. Sorry, what does that have to do with Obama’s birthplace? Everybody already knows that his ancestry is Kenyan.

Nor will it do so: SCOTUS may be the final lawgiver, but it is not the only lawgiver. As other judges, professors, and other experts have consistently rejected birthers’ two-citizen-parent fantasy, there’s no need for SCOTUS to waste its time with such frivolity.

Actually, wrong again. The USSC has ruled by refusing to waste their time on your fantasies, because that is just what they are. If you had any cognizable issue they probably would have taken it up, as it was, all you filed was meaningless drivel, and you are still WRONG.
