Ultimate birther bill stalls

Perhaps the only proposed legislation with a real chance of unearthing Barack Obama’s fabled long form birth certificate has stalled in Hawaii legislature. The bill, sponsored by five Hawaiian Democrats, did not get debated before a Friday deadline for it to be passed to final committees, leaving it in limbo, The State Column reported.

I so much wanted one to frame and hang in my study. Oh well.

rob: Governor Abercrombie says the long-form BC doesn’t exist

Actually, it you who is not credible since Gov. Abercrombie never said the long form doesn’t exist.

“Does this mean Obama was born in Hawaii?

“Yes,” said Hawaii Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo, in both email and telephone interviews with the Tribune. “That’s what Dr. Fukino is saying.”

“Hawaii was a state in 1961, when Obama was born. Any person born in the U.S. automatically is a “natural born citizen,” said University of California Los Angeles law professor Eugene Volokh.”

“You know, during the campaign of 2008, I was actually in the mainland campaigning for Sen. McCain. This issue kept coming up so much in the campaign, and again I think it’s one of those issues that is simply a distraction from the more critical issues that are facing the country. And so I had my health director, who is a physician by background, go personally view the birth certificate in the birth records of the Department of Health, and we issued a news release at that time saying that the president was, in fact, born at Kapi’olani Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. And that’s just a fact. And yet people continue to call up and e-mail and want to make it an issue. And I think it’s, again, a horrible distraction for the country by those people who continue this. … It’s been established. He was born here.”

Birther Rob is either lying or a dupe when he claims that “Governor Abercrombie says the long-form BC doesn’t exist”.
    Which is it?

  4. FUTTHESHUCKUP says:

    rob:
Actually Hawaii does possess the long-form BC because Dr. Fukino claimed she saw it but Governor Abercrombie says the long-form BC doesn’t exist. So this means Dr. Fukino’s statements are now not credible.

Fukino said she saw President Obama’s “original birth information.” She said nothing about a “long form” as you claim. It’s people like you who put words in other people’s mouths who are not credible.

  5. FUTTHESHUCKUP says:

“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawai’i State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawai’i State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawai’i and is a natural-born American citizen,” Fukino said in a statement. “I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008, over eight months ago.”

    No “long form” mentioned

What else could she possibly be referring to?

Lying, I think. Rob is James, John, etc.the banned troll.

And always full of B.S. So, what is your actual agenda, troll?

  11. hank: I’m like a bad penny Doc, I always turn up.

“Bad penny” is a very apt name.

“BAD PENNY — The phrase usually is heard in this country (U.S.) as ‘A bad penny always turns up,’ meaning that a no-good person can be counted upon to come back again and again.

The proverb, also used allusively in simile and metaphor (see quot. 1766), refers to the predictable, and usually unwelcome, return of a disreputable or prodigal person after some absence.

A bad penny is sometimes said to be a biased coin, that when flipped always turns up the same side.

Why can’t Toobin be better. He and Cooper never say that the Full Faith and Credit Clause requires Montana to accept Hawaii. Does Montana expect that its birth certificates be accepted by other states? Why not mention the federal definition of birth certificate? Why not mention Supreme Court decision in Wong Kim Ark?

Toobin said that Vattel required parents to be born in US, but why not mention that Vattel wrote before the US even existed.

Besides, the birthers claim is different. They claim the parent has to be a citizen, not born in the U.S., and accept a naturalized citizen parent. So Toobin misses the target when he says six Presidents had parents born outside the US.

Why not say the two citizen parent theory has been rejected by a court, Ankeny? That no law professor anywhere has endorsed it?

I just wish the high-priced talent could do a better job making their case.

Uh, oh, it seems that Toobin has had some birth certificate problems himself: “…Toobin has resisted putting his name on the infant’s birth certificate….”

I share the sentiment both towards Toobin and others in the media who aren’t well prepared.

Anderson Cooper is wrong when he describes a birth certificate as a valid form of identification. A birth certificate is proof of the birth facts stated on it, but not of the identity of the person holding the document. This is why the State Department requires that a driving licence or similar evidence of identity be shown to apply for a first adult passport. (I admit that I am being pedantic. I don’t think that any person seriously doubts that the person who was sworn in as President on 20 January 2009 is Barack Obama II. However, the mistaken assumption that a birth certificate is proof of identity is a very real problem in many other cases.)

  18. FUTTHESHUCKUP says:

Dr. Conspiracy: What else could she possibly be referring to?

I haven’t the faintest idea, Doc, and neither does birther rob. I construe the term “long form,” when birthers use that term, as something birthers think is some type of legal document that the state of Hawaii holds and offers to those born there to prove one’s birth in that state even though Hawaii says they no longer issue them.

  19. Whatever4 says:

Dr. Conspiracy: What else could she possibly be referring to?

I think she’s referring to the entire record, the one based on the US Standard BC. The really really long form. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/dvs/birth11-03final-acc.pdf

  20. sfjeff says:

I thought she would be referring to the original birth certificate on file that she had announced she had reviewed in her original official announcement.
